Beth’s Story.

Beth Elaine Buchanan was a graduate student at the University of Georgia, where she was studying Industrial and Organizational Psychology. On February 13, 2024, Beth was driving her mother back to the Atlanta airport after the two spent a lovely weekend visiting together in Athens.

In the early morning hours, Beth and her mother would be stuck by a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road. Beth would be killed instantly, and her mother would suffer injuries that would lead to weeks in the hospital and a long recovery.

Cesar Raudales Macias, a 26-year old man living in Athens is responsible for Beth’s death. He was driving over 80MPH and was under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol content of .24.
